ICCDR at Global Conference on Education 2026 (GCE 2026)

Theme: Reimagining education for a sustainable and just future

ICCDR, in joint collaboration with the SDG Council, participated in the Global Conference on Education 2026 (GCE 2026), held at the United Nations Conference Centre. Secretary General Dr. Srinivas Eluri and Executive Committee member Ms. Milindha took an active role, discussing crucial topics including:

  • The role of education in achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals
  • Bridging global education gaps through inclusive and future-ready learning systems
  • Youth leadership, innovation, and digital transformation in education
  • Strengthening international cooperation for resilient education ecosystems

This address sets the strategic and moral direction of GCE 2026, bringing together policymakers, academics, diplomats, educators, and youth leaders from across the world to reimagine education for a sustainable and just future.

ICCDR & HYDRAA Collaboration Meeting with Sri Ranganath, IPS, Commissioner

Focus: SDG 13 – Climate Action · Environmental Protection · Sustainable Urban Development

A productive collaboration meeting was held between the International Commission of Culture and Diplomatic Relations (ICCDR) and HYDRAA, with Sri Ranganath, IPS, Commissioner, to explore opportunities for cooperation in public service, environmental protection, sustainable urban development, and community welfare.

The discussions emphasized initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 – Climate Action, with a focus on environmental protection, climate resilience, sustainable development, and responsible urban planning.

The meeting marked an important step towards strengthening collaboration and developing impactful initiatives for a greener, safer, and more sustainable future.

Focus: SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

A recent meeting was held with Sri Mahesh Bhagavat, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order), to discuss the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16): Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions — the specific United Nations goal that directly addresses law and order, friendly policing, crime control, and criminal justice.

The discussions explored meaningful collaboration between ICCDR and law enforcement leadership to advance community-centred policing, strengthen institutional accountability, and promote access to justice — all essential pillars of a peaceful and inclusive society aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda.

Collaboration Discussion with Shantha Biotechnics & Dr. K. I. Varaprasad Reddy

Focus: SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being

Shantha Biotechnics, founded by Dr. K. I. Varaprasad Reddy, is a pioneering Indian biotechnology company renowned for its contribution to affordable healthcare, particularly through the development and manufacture of Hepatitis-B vaccines. Under Dr. Varaprasad Reddy's leadership, the company demonstrated India's capability to produce high-quality vaccines at accessible costs, making an important contribution to public health.

Dr. K. I. Varaprasad Reddy has been honoured with the Padma Bhushan by the President of India for his distinguished contribution to biotechnology and healthcare.

A recent collaboration discussion was held in Hyderabad between the leadership of Shantha Biotechnics / Dr. K. I. Varaprasad Reddy and the Secretary General of ICCDR. The discussion explored opportunities for cooperation in promoting Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) – Good Health and Well-Being, with particular emphasis on healthcare innovation, affordable medicines and vaccines, public-health awareness, and international cooperation.

The proposed collaboration seeks to bring together scientific innovation, healthcare expertise, cultural diplomacy, and international cooperation to support initiatives aligned with SDG 3, contributing to healthier and more resilient communities in India and globally.

Visit to Telangana Secretariat — Meeting with Dr. Gourav Uppal, IAS, Secretary, Planning & Finance

Focus: SDG Integration into State-Level Planning · Inclusive & Sustainable Development

Recently had the opportunity to visit the Telangana Secretariat and meet with Dr. Gourav Uppal, IAS, Secretary, Planning & Finance, Government of Telangana. During the meeting, we had a constructive and meaningful discussion on strengthening the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Telangana.

The discussion focused on the importance of integrating the SDGs into state-level planning, development policies, and implementation mechanisms, with particular emphasis on measurable outcomes and inclusive growth.

We also discussed the potential for greater collaboration and coordination among government departments, civil society organizations, institutions, and international partners to accelerate progress towards the SDGs. Key areas such as health and well-being, education, environmental sustainability, economic development, social inclusion, and effective governance were highlighted as important pillars of sustainable development.

The meeting provided a valuable platform to explore practical approaches for translating the global SDG framework into effective local action and contributing to Telangana's vision of sustainable, inclusive, and people-centric development.
